My Chicken Wing Tree absolutely brings so many chuckles around the holiday season. I love seeing the smiles from people when they visit my booth and pick up this cute ornament! Fun facts about my design: •Actually trademarked! Not just copyrighted. •It’s now expended into so much, cards, wrapping paper, and future collabs with local businesses. •The original was a watercolor painting, still in my possession! •The original design did not contain my “angel”. I’ve included the inspo of Franks Hot Sauce as my tree topper. •The design is available at @buffaloshopcraft @buffalohistorymuseumshop @loungeshopbuf and @leafstonesteel Thanks for shopping local!Button

I’m grateful for the love I’ve received and given this year. This year has brought me so much closer to my community, clients, and family. I’m appreciative for the progress I’ve made as an artist. I’ haven’t perfected it one bit, but each day I’m learning to give myself a bit more grace, take a breather, and go with the flow (like watercolor!) I couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you everyone for making a difference, reassuring me of my worth. Thank you everyone for feeling like family. I’ve gotten to know my clients/supporters on a deeper level. Hearing their stories, what makes them connected to a piece, what they did this week, what crappy-life-shit that gets thrown in the mix. All of it is important to me. I can’t wait to see y’all during this crazy season. Happy Thanksgiving.Button
-
One of my favorite parts about the holidays is card making. When I first dabbled with watercolor, I would hand paint all of my cards with special design for each person receiving one. I digitally illustrated this lovely little guy as a reminder of the cheerful holiday season. Card will be available this weekend, along with two other designs. You can shop this piece now on the website.Button

Hi guys! It’s been a bit since I’ve mentioned the next few shows. This is so far what I can fit on my calendar and make the most of my time! There’s so many great events to go around this year. I would really love to see you folks there. You’ll expect new products, but the same old best sellers, my poor humor, and probably my adorable mom or dad to give me company.Button
-
I will be making special sizes for my AKG piece. They will be outside of the typical, standard sizes I make (no 8x10’s, no 5x7’s, no 11x14’s) due to the nature of the piece. Stay tuned for more info and availability!!! Also, shout out to @buffalobigprint for scanning my piece. I should’ve went to them first because I hated the initial scan I made myself, which took me dozens of hours and multiple headaches.Button
-
Making customs are extremely rewarding in a sense I get to know my clients stories behind a piece. Like this one requested from Ashley! Her special proposal all the way in Wiesbaden, Germany. Thank you guys for letting me paint this moment. It makes me miss Germany, and their gorgeous architecture.Button
-
Alyssa has been such a long friend and supporter of my art, so naturally when she reached out to me to make a piece to add to her collection, I was thrilled. Thank you @alyssa.dodgee. I bet Geno truly is a blessing to have as your fur baby, and your angel Hank is looking down at how happy he makes you and your fiancé.Button

Buffalo AKG 2024 2’ x 4.5’ Watercolor and white ink I wanted to take a moment to share my AKG piece, which will be eventually produced into some prints. I’m decided to keep this one for myself, mainly because I didn’t expect to be so satisfied with it. I really avoided trying to go too bold with the piece, for fear it’s going to feel too forced. I like it just the way it is. It reminds me of how my Great Aunt Evelyn used to teach me how to paint as a kid, but I could never be as skilled as her.Button
-
And that’s a wrap!!! Scanning next, then prints and more to come. Can’t wait to show the final.Button

Been a bit since I reintroduced myself! Plus we got a few new supporters this weekend. I’m Samantha, the face behind The Roaming Buffalo Art. I was raised in Niagara Falls, New York by the coolest, supportive parents, Paul and Nancy. I have lived in Kenmore for the past few years with my significant other Jeff. We have a cute lil Aussie boy named Broly, who has been the best art studio dog I could ask for. Outside of work I keep myself busy with Volleyball, the occasional bocce ball game, or trying to soak up any moment outside. Part of my favorite aspects as a WNY painter is creating special commemorative pieces for individuals. Lately I’ve been on a major kick to do watercolor pet portraits. I’ve been painting this style since 2018, previously using oil with 3D aspects. My Great Aunt Evelyn taught me a bit of watercolor, but she was more traditional and I focused my paintings endeavors on finding my own, niche style. I am so thankful for this journey that I am on, I can’t wait to show you more!Button
-

It’s been a while since I’ve painted the @buffalohistorymuseum I first painted it back in 2020 for a commission. Since then, I’ve really dove more into the abstract line work, and I’ve been inspired by layering the watercolor pieces that are hand cut and carefully adhered to one another. The history museum was initially painted last year with a collab I did with @buffalodapperpaws for the cherry blossom festival. I have decided to revamp the piece through separating the background from the building, and eventually will layer cherry blossoms. I can’t wait to show y’all the final piece.Button

Thank you to those who continue to trust me to paint a memorable place, not once, not twice, not even six times, but nine times. Diane, you are one special client!Button

Also thank you @whimsybykelly for allowing me to use your studio space. Please check out her work if you haven’t already!Button

I usually like to frame pieces with the hope a customer likes my selection. I try to curate them in what I’d be happy to have on my walls! Due to my poor time management, along with doing this same piece over THREE TIMES, I will have this original available to purchase next weekend at the Makers and Shakers market.Button

Meet Mister “Fashionista”, Chai! Chai is a 12 year old miniature pinscher mix, who loves all things sweaters and sewing. His owner Neoma, describes him as the following “He was an emaciated guy when they found him wandering on the east side. He had kennel cough and a shattered hip which the veterinarian reconstructed. He has a huge personality and loves his “people” on the block when he goes for his walks. He also loves Delaware Park where he’s a regular and meets other dogs…..” Thank you for letting me draw the fun, young-hearted and strong Chai!Button

Everyone meet Remmington, a woodworker Art Dog. Remmington is a 1 year old Great Dane. He’s extremely handy and loves to make furniture to fit his height. I’ll be wrapping up this project soon.Button

Getting back to the art dogs! Please see little Maia, the bonsai baby. She is a 9 lb mutt mix of a dachshund chihuahua terrier. Maia can be described as little, willful, a little stubborn, happy to get her point across. Maia loves to impress her friends with her bonsai trees, especially her neighborhood cat friend. Thank you Meredith for your submission! I will have a fun little surprise on Wednesday’s to see some of these come together.Button

Thank you guys for all the love and support in my soft launch of my new Western New York Wallpaper. This project came to me in less than 48 hours. I was approached by @interiorsofwny as a recommendation from @buffalodesignandprinting I am forever thankful for Joe and his team to help gather my design to be placed in the booth of Interiors of WNY at the Buffalo Home Show. You can check out the booth in person this weekend starting today at 10am, and next weekend at the Buffalo Convention Center. This wallpaper is super DIY friendly, through the use of peel and stick, and it is CUSTOMIZABLE. YEAH YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT. -You can select what color background and buildings you want, just like you see here! -You’ll need to use a HEX Code (colors are identifiable through an alphanumeric characters) -You can also choose how big you want the buildings! To order online, click the link in my bio!Button

I haven’t posted some art dogs in a while but here’s one of little Tortiellini. Tortiellini is a pit lab mix, adopted by Julia from the @cityofbuffaloanimalshelter. Like many others, her payment for a print is going towards the Shelter. Julia, her partner and the pup are headed around the US in a van to travel. Although she will be away from Buffalo, she will have reminders of home such as this Elmwood Art Dog piece. Thank you Tortiellini for your cuteness.Button

Hey yall! Meet Moose, the next art dog on the list. Moose is almost a year old, and he’s already a chalk mural artist! He’s super resourceful as he uses his ears for erasing and blending chalk. As you can tell, he loves his mother, Megan, @hiraethhouseallentown who is a small business owner and a lover of all things local art. Moose loves his older sister too, Lily, a black lab mix. Funny fact, he couldn’t run when he was a puppy due to his long ears! Glad to see they got some use in the art world. Thanks Megan!Button

Happy Belated Birthday to Henry, the next Elmwood Art Dog. Henry is a poet, he’s very big and mushy with his words… and his body. He gets so excited with people sometimes his lovable goofball energy can knock somebody over! His favorite treats are Gerber Baby Puffs. But as you can tell by his poetry, he really is a lover of all foods. If you ever see Henry, be sure to tell him how good of a boy he is. #elmwoodartdog #artdog #watercolorpetportrsit #watercolorillustration #digitialillustration #bernesemoutaindog #bernesemountaindogloversButton

Hi guys! Meet Chuck, the miniature schnauzer. Chuck is a very special boy. He’s blind, but he does not let his impairment steer him away from having a good time. I’ve depicted him at a sculptor, because he always has a solid image of his owner @chelseakij One way he likes to tell Chelsea he wants to play is by being very touch focused, scratching her! You can catch Chuck hanging out at Barkology, being a bubbly ray of sunshine. Thank you Chels for your “Elmwood Art Dog” submission #elmwoodartdog #artdog #watercolorpetportrait #digitalwatercolorportrait #buffalonyButton

Meet “Elmwood Art Dog” Kygo, the 2 1/2 year old golden retriever. Born in Mathias, NY, this lovely little fella is son to Elisabeth. He loves stealing socks and his favorite toy is a tennis ball - typical golden I’d say. When he’s not digging for socks, he is really handy with beads. He loves making friendship bracelets, and he secretly is a swifty. Thanks Liz for submitting Kygo!Button

Now meet Platano, Coffee Bean’s brother, who is the Pianist in this band duo! Platano is a 6 year old terrier/pointer mix (possibly) When he is not slamming on keys, he is out at the park playing. His athleticism makes him feel like the king of the world, or the Mayor of the Park. His favorite toy for playtime is a blue ball, which has been replaced a few time (don’t tell him we’ve replaced it) He does get a little competitive with his brother Coffee Bean, but truly they are a perfect match as siblings. Thanks again, Tim! #elmwoodartdog #artdogillustration #dogart #dogportrait #dogwatercolorportrait #watercolorpetportraitButton
-
Here’s a redo from my Elmwood Art Dog Series. This is actually Coffee Bean, I originally mistaken him for his brother Platano, which you’ll see in the next post! Coffee Bean is a dachshund mix. His owner, Tim, shared some fun facts “An enjoyable quirk Coffee has is displacement. He doesn’t chew things (anymore), but he will carry them around the house. He usually has FRAPS or Zoomies with the item, which we call Bean time. As part of the excitement showing off what he’s “found” he does lots and lots of circles. It’s more exhilarating if the item doesn’t belong to him. When it’s not playtime, he’s playing Violin along side his brother. They truly are a Pawesome duo to listen too. Thank you Tim for letting me draw Coffee Bean! #artdog #elmwoodartdog #artdogportrait #watercolordogportrait #digitalillustration #dogplayingviolin #buffalonyButton

Up next is @laurenspot’s pup, Rupert! I like to call him “Rad Boy Rupert”. I approached Lauren on this project because I’ve always admired his taste in fashion, as well as his spunk. @queen_city_canine has been teaching him skateboarding lessons, so I had to imagine Rupert’s “art dog” hobby to be spray painting murals, graffiti, and all things cool with spray cans. Thanks Lauren for all of the photos #elmwoodartdog #artdog #petportrait #artdogillustration #watercolorpetportrait #illustratedwatercolor #buffalonyButton

Everyone meet Poppy! This beautiful little black lab mix is our next featured “Elmwood Art Dog”. Poppy’s mom Emma made me crack up as she took it upon herself to dress up Poppy into her baking outfit. Poppy loves to make Christmas cutouts with her mom, and grandma! Certainly you’d have to try one of her delicious cookies. Some other fun facts is she is a rescue from @buffalo_underdogs_rescue She is a huge cuddle bug and obsessed with fetch. Thanks again Emma @3mw3buhButton
-
Hey guys! This beautiful pooch is Hazel, one of the first dogs of my “Elmwood Art Dog” Series. Every other day I will be challenging myself to draw local pups with a hobby/craft related to the art industry. Hazel is a Chocolate lab, owner Jessica. Hazel is known to be an enthusiastic, a “more is more girl” - more friends, toys, play times and treats. Her “art” hobby is photography, as you can see from the original submitted photo, she has tons of cameras! Outside of being a puptographer, she loves to dock dive. Thank you Jessica for submitting. If you made a submission, stay tuned for an acceptance email! I got dozens of emails to go through regarding these beautiful pups. #artdog #elmwoodartdog #digitialwatercolor #watercolorportrait #dogportrait #puppyphotography #buffalonyButton

Part of my job as an artist is to hear stories behind why a client is requesting a specific piece. No matter how brief or detailed, I’m always happy to understand the background. Whether you met them over wings (if ya know ya know), had your anniversary at a special place, shared your first I love you’s, it’s always important I treat your piece as if it’s like I’m making one for a family member.Button

Watch my process as I show you my largest commission so far in my time as an artist. I was recommended by Sarah from @goodneighborevents to complete a map of buffalo to be used as a seating chart for Diane and Matthew Morley for their wedding on November 4th. Ironically, Diane was already a fan of my work as she had a couple of my pieces in her office. The map consisted of 24 significant places the couple had selected to represent each table. I found the best way to work on this piece was to order a large roll of arches 140lb cold press paper, which I then sized down to 36”x60”. Each location was hand painted, then cut with an Xacto knife to bring out their characteristics. In order to create the physical seating chart, I scanned each piece and digitally enhanced them using Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Each table had their own 5”x7” sign which was placed in a beautiful gold, acrylic frame. The base of the original was painted with general large main streets, highway markers and bodies of water. Through the help of @fivepointsframing we were able to find a beautiful, warm-toned silver frame with large acrylic to protect the pieces. Lastly, I took it to Diane & Matthew’s wedding venue at @the_powerhouse_by_reg to make it one less thing on their list! Thank you to everyone that helped, and to Diane & Matthew for trusting me with this challenging project!Button

When I offer commissions, I provide free, in person delivery so you get to know the face behind the painting. I’ll be taking this one to Youngstown today!Button

I have been constantly in my head for the past few months about my own self worth as a person and an artist. Apart from being a painter, I was working in another environment that I thought was accepting of creatives like me. I’ve only wanted to work hard and make myself, my family and friends proud. I have no doubts of that now. I am glad that I am working on my art, out of the work environment that once made me feel bullied under a false light of “inclusivity”. I wish I could say to my bully of a boss how angry I have been, how disappointed I was that an employer failed to care about the wellbeing of an artist who has still continued to financially support their company. I need to realize that people like her don’t matter, but it’s about the people who have continuously watch me grow, who have allowed me to cry on their shoulder but also told me to wipe the tears of my face and put my soul into my paintings. Thank you everyone who has continued to support me.Button
